Combating Irregular Migration and Human Trafficking
The second season of the Model of the International Organization for Migration (MIOM) is recognized as one of the most significant student activities aimed at combating irregular migration and human trafficking, under the leadership of Islam Goba. The model's activities encompassed a series of training sessions and workshops.
Below are the highlights of the training courses that took place:
Part 1
The Importance of Creating Awareness Among Youth About Key Issues in Egyptian Society:
This session, with a focus on youth awareness, was presented by Major General Dr. Ashraf Saber.
The Role of the International Organization for Migration in Combating Human Trafficking:
Presented by Mr Mohamed Hashem, representative of the International Organization for Migration.
Forms of Human Trafficking and How to Combat Them:
This session addressed the implications of modern trends in human trafficking, the risks of irregular migration, and how to protect youth from these crimes. It was discussed by Dr. Amani Masoud, Professor of Political Science and Head of the Political Science Department at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
Presentation Skills and Public Speaking and Their Importance:
Presented by Dalia Amin, Professor of presentation Skills at the American University in Cairo.
Part 2
The event extended over four weeks and included both on-campus activities and online meetings.
Interactive activity sessions presented by Manar Al-Sahmawey, Vice President of the model, focusing on communication skills, ice-breaking activities, and an interactive game aimed at fostering communication between different cultures.
An academic session with Mr. Mohamed Ali, representative of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking (NCCPIM&TIP), to update model members on the committee's role and its awareness campaigns across various Egyptian governorates.
MIOM debate sessions organized by student Lujain Al-Farmawy, Vice President of the model, featuring discussions between student representatives from the United States and Canada, followed by debates between representatives from France and Germany, and a final debate between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
