Applications Now Open for the International Organization for Migration Simulation Model (MIOM) 2025

The Migration Research Unit (MRU) at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), is pleased to announce the launch of the fourth season of MIOM, under the theme: "Migration and Artificial Intelligence."

Since its first edition in 2022, MIOM has brought together over 460 students from various faculties and disciplines, including international students, to engage in the simulation of global migration challenges. Previous editions tackled key topics such as migration and climate change, human trafficking, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Through MIOM 2025, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of migration issues, in addition to developing essential competencies in:

  • Leadership and negotiation skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Practical experience in international and governmental decision-making processes

Eligibility Criteria:

Applications are open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled (academic year 2024/2025) at any faculty or institute of Cairo University.

Applicants must also commit to:

  • Attending all training sessions
  • Actively participating in discussions and simulations
  • Demonstrating innovation and initiative throughout the program

The purpose of establishing a unit for migration studies to provide an opportunity to study the economic and social dimensions in cooperation with the various departments inside and outside the college to study the motives and effects of migration, whether legal or illegal, which opens the horizon for joint research.
