The MRU opened the call for participating in the first round of the IOM simulation model on climate change. The IOM simulation model is the first of its kind among Egyptian universities and at the international level, as confirmed by the organization's representative. It aims to provide students with a virtual experience of migration issues facing society. The program focuses on training youth in leadership, decision-making, and keeping abreast of local and international events, in an attempt to reach solutions for various problems and issues confronting Egyptian society. Interested students from Faculty of Economics and Political Science and other faculties of Cairo University were invited to attend interviews on 27 and 28 February 2022 to fill in the heading positions of the model. The interviewing committee included many experts from the Ministry of State for Migration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, the National Coordinating Committee for Combating Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Persons, the IOM, along with the FEPS Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and the MRU Team. The MRU unit, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration, organized a closing ceremony on 15 October 2022 to celebrate the end of students’ activities of the first round of the IOM simulation model. The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University; Dr. Mahmoud El Said, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science; Dr. Adela Ragab, Professor of Economics at the faculty and the coordinator of the MRU Unit; and Mohamed Hashem, Program Support Officer at the IOM office in Egypt
